Game Recap

From Walk-Off Drama To Power Domination

The Cubs showed a completely different way to win. After Seiya Suzuki delivered the ninth-inning walk-off in the series opener, Chicago answered with a full power display.

Fernando Tatis Jr. opened the game with a homer, but Carson Kelly singled home Seiya Suzuki in the bottom of the first. The second inning changed everything: Dansby Swanson launched a solo shot, then Alex Bregman followed with a three-run homer to push Chicago ahead 5-1.

Michael Busch homered in the fifth, Swanson added a two-run blast later in the inning, and Pete Crow-Armstrong added another shot in the sixth. That early thunder gave the Cubs enough cushion to survive San Diego’s four-run eighth.

Wrigley Blessing

Bless The Bats That Bring The Thunder

Bless the ivy that watched five baseballs fly,
the bleachers that roared with every rising shot,
and the lineup that turned a summer night into a slugfest.

May Swanson’s swing stay loud,
may Bregman’s big-moment hammer keep finding seats,
may Busch and PCA keep adding insurance,
and may Wrigley keep shaking every time the Cubs turn power into belief.

Friendly Confines Takeaway

The Cubs Are Winning Loud Now

The Padres series started with a classic Wrigley ending: pressure, tension, and a walk-off swing. The next night, the Cubs skipped the suspense and started launching.

Swanson’s two-homer night was the headline, but the depth of the power was the real message. Bregman delivered the three-run hammer, Busch added separation, and PCA supplied insurance.

The Cubs are not just riding one hot bat. They are stacking different winning formulas — and this one came with thunder.
